Life at Liverpool is about to change drastically, with Jurgen Klopp calling time on his nine-year spell in charge.
For all but one of the Reds’ playing squad, Klopp is the only manager they’ve ever known at the club. Only Joe Gomez was signed by a manager other than the German.
Though things will be different though, and perhaps even strange for a while, the general feeling of being at the club should remain.
Liverpool were one of the biggest clubs in the world without Jurgen. Although the 56-year-old has improved the Reds’ status no end, they will be once he leaves, too.
Ibrahima Konate makes Liverpool feelings clear
To see just what Liverpool Football Club mean to those currently representing it, you need only look at Ibrahima Konate’s interview with Franceinfo this week. Asked what makes Liverpool ‘special,’ Konate delivers a typically brilliant response.
“I don’t even have the words to describe it,” gushed the 24-year-old. “It’s a “sick crazy” club, sorry for the words I use!
“Before I arrived, I knew this, but playing for this club, it’s a historic club. In all honesty, never in my life did I think that at 21 I was going to sign for Liverpool. If I had had a career plan, it would have been to play for Sochaux, then for another club, but a team like Liverpool, not before 27-28 years.
“I signed when I was 21, exceptional! Whether it’s the fans, the matches, Anfield, You’ll never walk alone..”
Is Ibrahima Konate fit to play
Konate was answering questions ahead of France’s two upcoming friendly games. But although he’s been named as part of Didier Deschamps squad, it remains to be seen if he’ll be fit to play.
The centre-back hasn’t featured for Liverpool since their away win over Sparta Prague on March 7th.
Having been included in the France group – and since spotted in training – there should be hope that Konate has fully recovered from his recent set-back. However, given his history of picking up knocks, Reds fans will be nervous while he’s away.
Konate has once again been brilliant for Liverpool this season. Now fully established as the first-choice partner for Virgil van Dijk, he will hopefully have a long career at Anfield.
The former RB Leipzig defender has even seen predictions that he could be a future captain of the club. And judging from his words here, that’s something that perhaps Konate could see himself doing.
Given all the upheaval set to take place at Liverpool, it’s nice to hear that key players still remain as enamoured as ever by the Reds.
