The #16 North Carolina Tar Heels flexed their muscle in a commanding 85-70 victory over St. Bonaventure at the Fort Myers Tip-Off on Tuesday, showcasing a dominant performance fueled by two of their standout players. In a game where the Bonnies had little answer, Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson led the charge, combining for 44 points and 25 rebounds to propel UNC to their sixth straight win—a best start since the 2016-17 championship season.
A Night to Remember for Veesaar and Wilson
– Henri Veesaar erupted for a career-high 24 points and 13 rebounds, unleashing his versatility with thunderous dunks, midrange jumpers, and rim protection. A physical force, he scored 16 in the pivotal second half.
– Caleb Wilson was nearly unstoppable, notching 20 points and 12 rebounds while going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. His energy set the tone early, and he answered every Bonnies run.
– Kyan Evans chipped in 11 points (3 threes), playing lockdown defense and adding sparks. Derek Dixon logged crucial minutes, hitting key shots when UNC needed depth.
How the Heels Took Control
The Tar Heels trailed 35-33 at halftime but stormed out of the break, outscoring St. Bonaventure 50-35 after intermission. UNC crushed the paint (36 points), limited turnovers (2 in the 2nd half), and forced 16 Bonnies mistakes. “We handled their physicality, played with pace,” Coach Hubert Davis praised. “Veesaar, Kyan—they led tonight.”
