Pundit Steve Nicol says Manchester City’s winger could strike fear into Liverpool’s defence.
Manchester City signed Jeremy Doku from French club Rennes this summer. Belgium’s Trent Alexander-Arnold could be a huge challenge for the defence.
Liverpool, who have finished their last international break, return to Premier League action and travel to the Etihad to face City.
The show highlighted Nicol’s troubling personal struggles for Jurgen Klopp. In a recent ESPN FC podcast, the pundit said:”We think we know what City will do but we don’t know what Liverpool will do.
I can’t avoid it.But there’s one thing I’m really afraid of. If he plays Doku alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, then yes.
Watching the Chelsea game alone, I thought Doku was poor. I think because of last week everyone was waiting for this guy to start again and I thought that was pretty normal.
Maybe those words will cross Pep’s mind. And when I was Pep, when I looked at Trent and Doku, there was a complete mismatch in defense, so I was worried about that too.
Manchester City’s signing of Jeremy Doku spells a bright future for the Sky BluesManchester City bought the Belgian footballer for £55m in the summer transfer window this season.
Since then, the winger has been the center of attention at the Etihad. So far he has appeared in 14 matches in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 6 assists.
Moreover, he is currently the most successful player in the league. This shows why Nicole is worried that Trent Alexander-Arnold will face her. The Englishman is sometimes criticized for his defensive skills.
He completed only 34.8% of the dribbles he faced. With all that said, Doku will certainly have fun against Alexander-Arnold.
