A case where a football club mistakenly claimed the same payment four times due to an administrative error.
A Liverpool FC fan says he was forced to turn to friends and family after the club randomly asked him to pay for tickets four times.
An administrative error occurred after John Patterson purchased tickets for the upcoming Europa League match against LASK.
The next day John woke up to find he couldn’t access the £448 in the bank. Because the money was in his pending transaction.
The 58-year-old said: “On November 6 I bought four tickets for the Liverpool LASK game on November 30 for £28 each, for a total of £112.
I went to bed and woke up the next morning to find there were still four payments totaling £112 in outstanding transactions that I couldn’t pay.John immediately called his bank and was told to contact the club.
Liverpool FC assured him that the pending deal would not be passed on to the club and the money would be refunded within days. During this time, John still did not have access to his trading funds. That meant asking friends and family for help with food and electricity.
Three suspected dealers have been identified in connection with the raid in Liverpool. He said: “I have no money and you don’t know how stressful the last few days have been.
“I feel like my friends and family saved me,” he said.John, who has diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), said: “I’m on disability too. It scares me to think what all this stress has done to my blood pressure in the last few days.
“John loves Liverpool FC so much that he takes the ferry back and forth across the ocean from Northern Ireland to attend matches. Despite being a fan since the age of seven, John admits the whole ordeal made him question his loyalty.
He said, “Now why am I going, going back? I have nothing to say to him. “The whole situation put me in a bad situation.”He added: “I will get over it eventually, but now I don’t know if I will be able to participate in the European games.
“All four payments were returned to John’s account less than 10 days after the outstanding transaction began.
