Suggestion Liverpool have put ‘more important offer’ on table – Would be big signing for Reds

Last week, Cadena Ser reported Liverpool are best positioned to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé after Real Madrid decided to rule out a move for him. The forward’s deal expires in 2024 and his future at PSG remains uncertain.

AS say there are doubts over whether the La Liga side will carry out a deal for him next summer, even though he’ll be available for free. They also talk about Liverpool’s interest in the 24-year-old.

El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol had stated Los Blancos would have to break their salary structure, as Mbappé is demanding €35m per year… after tax.

AS relay this and add his wage demands could be an issue for the Madrid club. In addition to this, the Frenchman wants to operate on the left wing, a position currently occupied by Vinícius Júnior at Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side also have Manchester City star Erling Haaland on their agenda and will have to spend big to take the Norwegian away from the Etihad. A deal for Mbappé won’t be cheap either, even if he’s a free agent next summer.

AS explain Real Madrid will have to offer around €100m as a signing bonus, since the PSG attacker already has ‘more important offers’ on the table.
This is when the report presents Liverpool in that bracket and adds that they have reactivated their interest in Mbappé.

It’s possible the Reds are being used here to try to put some sort of pressure on Real Madrid to make efforts to sign the Frenchman.

Earlier this month, L’Equipe stated there won’t be significant progress made on Mbappé’s future until the first half of 2024. It was also said Liverpool haven’t broken contact with his entourage.

Despite the repeat pushing of Liverpool in these claims, it just feels unrealistic that the Reds would go anywhere near a €100m signing bonus plus €35m net wages.
