Rudi Garcia, the manager of Napoli, has expressed regret over Victor Osimhen’s injury problems, saying that the Nigerian striker’s absence is a “huge loss to the team.”
Remember that Victor Osimhen, while overseas on international duty with the Nigerian Super Eagles, suffered a medium-grade biceps femoris lesion in his right thigh?
The 24-year-old Nigerian international will miss Napoli’s upcoming matches against AC Milan, Union Berlin (UEFA Champions League), and Hellas Verona due to the injury.
Garcia believes that the loss of his best striker could make it harder for his squad to win games, even though they have other options up front.
The Serie A champions, who have only won four league games this season, suffered defeats to Real Madrid and Fiorentina prior to the international break. Garcia has been under fire as a result of this losing streak.
With 14 points from eight games, the defending Italian Serie A winners are presently positioned sixth in the league standings.
Coach Garcia responded to the injury setback suffered by Victor Osimhen by telling La Gazzetta dello Sport that he and his coaching staff would need to come up with a way to make up for Osimhen’s absence.
“Osimhen out is a big loss for the team and we need all of our players fit and ready to play,” he stated.
“He is a vital member of the team, so we need to find something to do with him away.”
