The company behind the European Super League has appointed a new chief executive

Liverpool fans now have the chance to block the club’s entry into a proposed new European Super League.Thursday’s ruling by the European Court of Justice shocked many and prompted A22 Sports Management Group to launch a new ESL initiative. Despite the fact that this caused consternation, analysts of the ECJ’s findings do not believe that the decision particularly advanced the cause of the A22 race.

Liverpool later issued a similar statement to the five English clubs originally involved: “Yesterday’s decision by the European Court of Justice does not change Liverpool FC’s previous position on the proposed Europa League. “Our involvement has ended. We will work with partner clubs through EKA and also participate in UEFA competitions.”Whatever the club’s intentions, Liverpool fans now have the right to opt out of ESL membership thanks to the club’s addition of a fans’ committee to the club’s charter from 2022.

This was in response to the club’s relegation from the ESL the previous year. Now the final decision in this matter is up to the fans. Spirit of Shankly has 10 representatives on its 16-member board. Joe Blott was a member and past president of SOS. He told Anfield: “We can prevent a repeat of the ESL by giving the fans a veto when they need it.”This is because owners now need permission to join separate groups or play home games away from Anfield.”For all the existential issues affecting football clubs, there can be no ground stakes, no ground moves or split group moves without the consent of the fans,” Blodt said.

Furthermore, I think the most important factor in this is protecting not only our current interests, but also the future interests of football fans.”The club will ensure that this participation is effectively recorded in the club’s constitution.”This means that if Fenway Sports Group leaves, future owners will have to abide by the same laws. Liverpool, England – Saturday 6 February 2016: Liverpool fans protest before the Premier League match against Sunderland at Anfield, holding SOS signs reading ‘FAO FSG Enough is Enough’.

Liverpool fans cannot prevent the promotion or creation of the European Super League, but they can guarantee Liverpool’s participation. As one of the top four clubs in the world, this may also have an impact on other clubs considering joining. Of course, this does not stop UEFA and FIFA from turning their competition into a quasi-super league.
