Former Liverpool midfielder Budwein Zenden has urged Ryan Gravenberch to be patient as he still needs time to settle.Liverpool have completely overhauled their midfield this summer with the departures of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Naby Keita and Fabinho.
The Reds have been busy finalizing deals for Gravenberch, Alexis McAllister and Dominik Soboszlai. Despite the lack of a natural midfielder, Jurgen Klopp has instead added some attacking options. Gravenbirch can play in a deeper role but tends to thrive in a more forward position where he can hold the ball and link up with forwards.
With Wataru Endo yet to secure a regular starting spot, McAllister often played a defensive role, allowing the likes of Gravenberch and Soboslay to get forward. Gravenbirch has played in just one Premier League game so far, including four as a substitute.
Zenden believes the 21-year-old will become an important player for Liverpool but still needs time to adapt to the Premier League. “I think in general all new players in the Premier League need time to adapt.” Zenden told Soccer News.”The game mode is different from other competitions. The number of matches with strength (hard).Gravenbirch’s best performance has been selected.
The former Ajax midfielder has failed to shine at Bayern, being placed behind the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Konrad Reimer.Liverpool acquired Gravenberch for 40 million euros and signed a contract until the summer of 2028. He should get more starts than Klopp as the season progresses and Zenden believes the 21-year-old would be best used in a forward position.“So from Gravenburch’s point of view, I think he’s going to feel better and that’s important.
The only question is what role he will play.“Whether he plays a more conservative role or a freer role in the future, the defensive midfielder is usually Mac Allister. This is correct. Gravenbirch clearly has Ajax DNA and is a player who wants to move into space and stand out.”More advanced roles will allow Gravenbirch to spawn in space and use the strengths mentioned by Zenden.Given Liverpool’s busy schedule, the Dutch midfielder will certainly have plenty of opportunities to secure a regular starting spot.
