Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for winger Yankuba Minteh during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old player has attracted significant attention following his standout performances while on loan at Feyenoord, amid speculation about his departure from Newcastle United.
Minteh, whose contract at St James’ Park runs until 2028, made 27 appearances for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie this season, registering 10 goals and six assists.
His impressive contributions on the field have captured the interest of several top clubs across Europe, including the Reds.
With uncertainties surrounding the futures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez at Anfield, and Mohamed Salah’s contract set to expire next year, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is reportedly keen to reshape the squad this summer.
As part of this restructuring, Minteh has emerged as a potential target for the Reds.
WHO IS YANKUBA MINTEH?
Yankuba Minteh’s football journey commenced at Steve Biko FC in The Gambia before securing a permanent deal with OB in the summer of 2022.
Initially, Minteh represented the U19 team, but later that same year, he earned a promotion to the first team.
His debut in the Danish Superliga occurred on September 10, 2022, during a 2-1 victory against Copenhagen.
Notably, Minteh made an immediate impact, scoring the winning goal merely three minutes after stepping onto the field as a substitute for Franco Tongya.
Last summer, Minteh made headlines with his move from Odense to Newcastle United.
He spent last season on loan at Feyenoord under Slot where he played a role to win the KNVB Cup in April after they defeated NEC Nijmegen 1-0 in the final.
Minteh, who proudly represents Gambia at the international level, is recognized as a left-footed forward who typically operates from the right flank.
His playing style often involves drifting inside, displaying comfort in central positions, while also demonstrating the ability to surge down the flanks.
His movements on the field are characterized by grace, as he effortlessly glides across the turf.
With Mohamed Salah’s contract entering its final year, Minteh emerges as a promising candidate for a long-term role on the right-hand side of Liverpool’s attacking lineup.
He could potentially fill the void left by the Egyptian superstar.
