Mohamed Salah remains absolutely indispensable for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp simply cannot afford to lose his talisman, despite major interest from the Saudi Pro League.#
Salah, 31, has been identified as one of Saudi Arabia’s major transfer targets for 2024 following their failed pursuit of the Liverpool star during the summer window. The Egyptian has 10 goals and six assists in 14 Premier League appearances this campaign, while he has also scored three times and provided one assist in five Europa League group stage matches.
Darwin Nunez has been largely underwhelming during his Liverpool career so far, but his relationship with Salah is one major positive from his time at the club, while Dominik Szoboszlai is already dovetailing nicely with the right-winger following his €70 million move from RB Leipzig.
His contract at Anfield runs until 2025, after signing an extension last summer, meaning that Liverpool do risk losing Salah on a free transfer if they aren’t able to negotiate another new deal next year. However, he is still able to be the difference-maker at the very highest level, as shown by his form in 2023-24.
Salah is THE MAN for Liverpool That statistic proves how crucial Salah remains for Liverpool and how much they can’t afford to lose him to Saudi Arabia next year. It’s likely that Klopp’s side will receive a huge bid for Salah in 2024, but the likelihood of Liverpool signing anyone who can come close to replicating the Egyptian’s deadly nature in the final third is extremely thin.
As a result, a sale would be catastrophic and something the Anfield side must do everything to prevent.
Only the aforementioned Haaland (14) has scored more than Salah’s 10 Premier League goals so far this campaign, while Kieran Trippier and Pedro Neto (both seven) are the two players who can boast more than Salah’s six league assists. He remains the main man for Klopp and Liverpool’s potential title charge this season will rely heavily on Salah keeping up this form; he can’t be sold in January and a summer exit would be equally as detrimental for the Reds.
As posted by the official Premier League X account, Salah has won 11 points for Liverpool through his goal contributions so far this season, which is the joint-highest of any player in the division, along with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
