A three-team NBA trade idea sending Andrew Wiggins and Jaime Jaquez Jr. from the Miami Heat to the Los Angeles Lakers has been created. NBA writer Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Heat, Lakers and Brooklyn Nets:
Los Angeles Lakers get: Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Drew Timme
Miami Heat get: Rui Hachimura, Dalton Knecht, $10 million trade exception (Wiggins)
Brooklyn Nets get: Maxi Kleber, 2026 protected Brooklyn second-rounder (from Heat), $4.6 million (from Nets), $2 million (from Lakers)
The Lakers are interested in trading for Wiggins, according to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
The Heat acquired Wiggins from the Golden State Warriors in the blockbuster Jimmy Butler trade last season. Wiggins put up 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.8 blocks per game with the Warriors and Heat while shooting 44.8% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 76.3% from the free-throw line.
The 30-year-old Wiggins has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Warriors and Heat. He has career averages of 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks. The Kansas product won the 2022 championship with the Warriors. Wiggins will make $28.2 million in 2025-26. He has a player option worth $30.2 million for the 2026-27 season.
Miami drafted Jaquez Jr. with the 18th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The 24-year-old played in 66 games last season, averaging 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks while shooting 46.1% from the field, 31.1% from beyond the arc and 75.4% from the free-throw line.
Jaquez Jr., who grew up a Lakers fan, has career averages of 10.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.2 blocks in the NBA. The UCLA product will make $3.9 million in 2025-26. The Lakers, who lost to the Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games, could start Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, Wiggins, LeBron James and Deandre Ayton and bring Jaquez Jr. off the bench with Marcus Smart, Jake LaRavia, Jarred Vanderbilt and Jaxson Hayes.
