Too much for Trent! Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold hides on the Reds bench and stops watching against Everton as title hopes slip away in crushing Merseyside derby defeat

It was all a little too much for Trent Alexander-Arnold to watch as Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes went up in flames after losing Wednesday’s Merseyside derby 2-0 against Everton.

The Goodison Park hosts put further space between themselves and the league’s relegation zone while simultaneously dealing a near-fatal blow to Liverpool’s title chase by winning the encounter.

Goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin gifted the blue half of Merseyside bragging rights as Liverpool fell far below their usual standards under Jurgen Klopp this season.

Mohamed Salah endured one of his most ineffective games in recent memory as Liverpool’s defence similarly struggled to deal with Everton’s direct attacking threat.

Alexander-Arnold was part of a defence that crumbled to two avoidable goals and couldn’t bare to continue watching after being replaced by Joe Gomez in the 84th minute.
