Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised defender Joe Gomez after his side’s FA Cup semi-final win over Fulham on Wednesday (January 24). The Reds started the second leg at Craven Cottage with a 2-1 lead from the first leg. In the 11th minute of the first half, Luis Diaz scored an additional goal. Issa Diop scored Fulham’s first goal in the 76th minute, but they were unable to equalize and lost 3-2.
Joe Gomez started on the left side of defense and made two clearances and a tackle, won 4/8 duels and completed 38/45 passes. The Englishman has been a key player for Liverpool this season, playing in the backline due to injuries to other players. After the Fulham game, Klopp praised Gomez’s contribution, saying:”Without Joey, without Robbo, we literally couldn’t do anything for the last 13 or 14 weeks. Once you bring Joey in, you get Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield.”He added:”I don’t know how many games he’s played but he’s special, a real defender who comes in and plays well. “He has often tried and rarely talk about discussions and tastes, but I will say a little, but I can live here.
Klopp also said: Gomez’s contributions for several years:”People forgot that Joe was in the best year I had.Ever since he arrived in Charlton in 2015, Gomez has made 202 shows for Kyzyls and has contributed to new support.
