The North Carolina Tar Heels are hoping to land a big 2027 basketball recruiting class, the first one under new coach Michael Malone. While they turned in a good 2026 class with recruits and transfers, the program’s future is in 2027.
One player the Tar Heels are in pursuit of is the top overall recruit, Beckham Black. The point guard is the consensus No. 1 player and has 25 offers.
So far, Black has visited North Carolina, Texas, Arkansas, Georgetown and Florida. After a busy month, Black recently talked about his recruitment, and he says it’s a really hard decision.
“Right now, I’m just in the process of taking a lot of visits, and seeing which coaching staff I feel like I could see myself playing for and my family trusts a lot,” he told Paul Biancardi and Chris Sylvester on ESPN. “It’s a really hard decision, but at the end of the day you can only do one school so trying to nitpick each little thing about each school to see where I fit.”
Black is in no rush to make a decision, either.
In the interview, he stated that when the time is right, he will make his decision. I don’t know if that’s good or bad for North Carolina, but we have to feel as if they are in good shape right now. While Arkansas has been the presumed favorite, the no-rush part may play a factor in it as well.
