Trent Alexander-Arnold says he has learned from Manchester City rival John Stones about adapting to a new role in central midfield.
Jurgen Klopp has asked the Liverpool defender to take on a new role in his side this season.
Alexander-Arnold has always had an elite midfielder and many fans have called for the Englishman to move up to the centre.
Now that he has been given the green light to take on the role, the 25-year-old has revealed he is scouting Premier League rivals the Stones.
The Manchester City defender played as a centre-back for Pep Guardiola’s side last season and performed brilliantly as they won the treble.”I think the person who plays the reverse hybrid, I don’t know what to call it, is definitely John Stones,” he said, via the Mirror.
“He’s a guy whose game I’ve admired for a long time. He’s so unique that I see him a lot. Even when I watch videos or City matches, I focus on him. I’ve always admired him.
“Alexander-Arnold also singled out Spanish midfielder Rodry as a player he admires and is “highly overrated”. “I respect Rodri’s game. He is very important and very underrated in this team.
We’ve seen recently that if you take him out of the team, he’s not the same. That shows how important it is. “I would say those are the types of players I admire, but there are many.
I also watch older players that I always enjoy watching (Busquets, Alonso, Pirlo, Stevie G).
