Trent Alexander-Arnold roasted by fans following his shocking performance against Man City

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold had a torrid return to action for his club as the Premier League returned on Saturday afternoon.

Alexander-Arnold is under fire from Liverpool fans following his woeful showing against Man City at the Etihad during the early Saturday kick-off.

The Socuse right-back was not included in the England squad for the most recent international break, despite being called up to the squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

His performance in Liverpool’s 4-1 thrashing by Manchester City once again showed his defensive frailties, and Jack Grealish had a field day against the defender, running riot and dictating play from the left-hand-side.

It has been dubbed by some as Grealish’s best game since joining Manchester City, as it felt like something was going to happen every time the attacker had the ball – and most of the time, it did.

At the conclusion of the game, Jack Grealish was awarded the man of the match award, bagging a goal and assist in a 5 star showing.

The 27-year-old’s goal was a fantastic right-footed finish, as Alexander-Arnold’s defending in the build-up to a few of the goals left a lot to be desired by Liverpool fans.

Trent was left in a 2v1 situation on the right wing, but fans and pundits alike think he could have done a lot better in the scenario.

With Alexander-Arnold jogging to try and match Grealish’s late run into the box, it showed his naiveties in defence once again.

Football fans did not let this performance slip under the radar, with one uploading a photo of Trent strolling around up front with the caption:

“This Trent brother is just running anywhere at this point” with a laughing emoji.

“Liverpool fans told us Trent was “the best right back the Premier League has seen” with a skull emoji.

Even Chelsea fans are getting excited of the prospect of facing him later this week:

“Mudryk vs Trent On Tuesday. I will be there no matter what.”
