TRIUMPHANT: Pistons Broadcaster George Blaha Receives Prestigious Honor From Naismith Hall of Fame

The Detroit Pistons entered this weekend’s NBA All-Star break with their first winning record since 2009 at a mark of 29-26 under first-year head coach JB Bickerstaff. The Pistons’ rousing success has been a long time coming, the culmination of an improved roster, the maturation of young players, and improved health among star players including Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren.

 

One key member of the Pistons’ franchise who’s remained through it all is broadcasting legend George Blaha. Blaha has teamed with former Michigan State star Greg Kelser to produce one of the most recognizable media duos in professional basketball.

On Friday, Blaha was notified of perhaps his most significant honor yet, an award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, based out of Springfield, Massachusetts. “The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced this evening that Detroit Pistons legendary broadcaster George Blaha has been awarded the 2025 Curt Gowdy Media Award for electronic media,” the Pistons’ X account wrote on Friday.
