Tyson Fury is a huge Manchester United fan and had some words of advice for Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag before watching them take on Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals
Fury is famously a huge United fan and was in attendance at Old Trafford for Sunday’s crunch clash. The British boxer is gearing up to take on Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia in May.
Their fight was originally scheduled for February but had to be delayed after Fury suffered a nasty cut above his eye. With nine weeks still to go before their postponed bout, Fury took some time out from his training schedule.
He travelled to Manchester to watch Sunday’s FA Cup game from the director’s box, with United huge underdogs. But Fury insisted that the Red Devils could still win, if they followed a tactic he has used in all of his own fights.

“Liverpool v United is probably the most looked forward to match of the season for me. I think it will be a good game and hopefully United can turn the clock back and smash them,” the boxer told ITV Sport.
“Just go out there and attack, put pressure on them and play your best football, get stuck right in because that usually works. It’s worked for me anyway, 35 times in a row, so that’s a good tactic.”
At first, it was a tactic they followed, with United dominating the early stages. They were rewarded for that dominance when Scott McTominay bundled the ball home after Alejandro Garnacho saw a shot saved.
But they were unable to hold onto that lead into half-time, as Liverpool turned the game on its head. First, Alexis Mac Allister fired in an equaliser, before Mohamed Salah put the visitors ahead after they capitalised on a defensive error to leave Roy Keane furious.
“It’s the biggest worry for United throughout this season, they are so open, particularly in midfield. They need someone to sit, it’s called game management. We just felt Liverpool were getting stronger,” he told ITV.
“But United have got to get someone to sit in there and try and protect the back four, game management, to give up the chances. The intensity from the attacking players, Rashford, my god.
“You’re talking an FA Cup quarter-final, get to people, attack them, it’s far too easy for Liverpool, way too simple, players taking touches, get out to him. You’re going to get punished but for United to play out from the back in injury time is criminal.”
United struggled after the break, but just as it seemed the game was heading for a Liverpool win, Antony produced a neat turn inside the box before firing into the bottom corner to equalise with three minutes to go and take the match to extra-time.
