UNC basketball extends offer to center in 2028 class

The 2026 AAU circuit is officially underway as coaches and staff members head across the country to scout recruits and keep an eye on players. For the North Carolina Tar Heels, they were out on the recruiting trail keeping an eye on several players. With this being Michael Malone’s first Summer with the AAU circuit, it’s going to be important for him to turn in a good 2027 class. And on Friday, he made a big offer in the 2028 class.

North Carolina has officially offered 7-foot-1 center Yann Kamagate in the 2028 class. Kamagate plays for Compton Magic and picked up the offer after UNC was watching him.

The center lives in La Canada Flintridge, California and currently attends St. Francis High School. Kamagate has a total of seven offers now, including from Arizona, USC, and Washington, among others. He turned in an impressive performance on Friday, scoring 16 points, 19 rebounds, and 2 blocks in a big win for Compton Magic. It’s very early in his recruitment, but North Carolina is hoping to make a good first impression.
