Freshman guard Isaiah Denis announced on Instagram that he will enter the transfer portal but is leaving the option to return to North Carolina.
“UNC is a special place,” Denis said in his announcement. “That is why even though I intend to enter the transfer portal due to the coaching uncertainty, I’m keeping the option open to return to UNC.” The North Carolina Tar Heels are continuing to build their roster under new head coach Michael Malone. So far, North Carolina has added one player via the transfer portal but has also welcomed back a few players. Now, on Saturday, they received some more good news in terms of the roster.
Guard Isaiah Denis took to social media to announce his return to the program. Denis entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago but recently met with Malone and the coaching staff, making the decision to return for another year. The former four-star prospect was a part of North Carolina’s 2025 recruiting class that also featured Caleb Wilson and Derek Dixon. Denis appeared in just 10 games last season, averaging 1.9 points and 0.6 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the field.
UNC is still very high on Denis and his ability to provide some depth in the backcourt.
