One of the biggest names in the 2027 basketball recruiting class has a new blue blood on the table.
NaVorro Bowman Jr., widely regarded as one of the top point guards in the country, announced on Wednesday that he has received an offer from the University of North Carolina. Bowman confirmed the news on his Instagram story, posting a photo of the iconic Tar Heel logo — a clear signal that Chapel Hill is now in the mix for his recruitment.
The offer comes directly from UNC head coach Michael Malone and his staff, who have been ramping up their efforts in the 2027 class. For Bowman, it marks another major milestone in a recruitment that has already drawn national attention.
Currently, Rivals Industry Composite ranks Bowman as the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2027 class. Known for his elite court vision, speed in transition, and ability to run an offense as a true floor general, Bowman has built a reputation as a lead guard who can take over games on both ends.
With the offer from North Carolina, Bowman adds the Tar Heels to what is expected to become a long list of high-major programs. UNC has a long history of developing NBA-level point guards, and getting involved this early shows how highly the staff values Bowman’s potential.
As Bowman heads into his sophomore and junior seasons, expect his recruitment to heat up even more. But for now, the Tar Heels can officially say they’re in the running for one of the most coveted playmakers in the country.
