Florida Atlantic transfer Maxim Logue is no longer expected to join the UNC basketball team.
Inside Carolina was first to report the change in Logue’s status, previously pointing to problems with the 6-foot-9, 232-pound forward’s pre-enrollment process. Logue was one of three players to commit to the Tar Heels out of the transfer portal on April 21. His change in status drops UNC’s number of transfer portal additions to four: Virginia Tech’s Neoklis Avdalas, Utah’s Terrence Brown Jr., N.C. State’s Matt Able and Northwestern’s Cade Bennerman.
Bennerman, a 7-footer who didn’t play for the Wildcats as a redshirt freshman, is the only post player in that group. Logue, who averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds last season in a reserve role for the Owls, was projected to be a depth piece for first-year coach Michael Malone.
Malone remains overseas, hoping to recruit more international prospects to add to the 2026-27 roster. The Tar Heels potentially found their starting center on April 28 with the addition of 7-footer Sayon Keita, a projected first-round pick in the 2027 NBA Draft.
