The North Carolina Tar Heels have had an eventful week to open the 2026-27 college basketball season.
After landing a commitment from five-star prospect DeMarcus Henry, the Tar Heels opened their season with a win on Monday night. Although it was sloppy at times, UNC beat Western Carolina and seeks to improve to 2-0 when it hosts Wofford on Friday night. But they also received some good news regarding a prospect they are pursuing. Five-star combo guard Jalen Davis is wrapping up visits and will take his final official visit to Gonzaga this weekend. He visited North Carolina in early October.
However, he may not be done seeing the UNC campus. Eric Bossi reported on Wednesday that Davis is set to take one more trip to North Carolina on an unofficial visit.
That’s huge news for North Carolina in the pursuit of Davis. The 2027 prospect hails from Washington and is a top 20 consensus recruit. With Henry already committed, UNC is off to a great start in this class and still have some big targets left out there, including Davis.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound combo guard is ranked No. 17 nationally, No. 4 among combo guards and No. 1 in the state of Washington per the 247Sports composite recruiting rankings. Is another top 20 recruit ready to commit to North Carolina? Stay tuned.
