Throughout the early stages of the Michael Malone era in Chapel Hill, we’ve seen glimpses of what types of players the new coaching staff is looking for.
While new targets have emerged (both via high school and transfer portal recruiting), there are a handful of student-athletes who drew interest from the prior regime that might interest the new staff as well.
Malone and the Tar Heels have extended offers to some of those Class of 2027 talents, including the likes of CJ Rosser, Beckham Black and others, but have now officially jumped back into the mix for an in-state product who is also among the top players in his graduating class.
Michael Malone & UNC re-offer five-star guard Jordan Page
On social media, five-star guard Jordan Page announced that he has received an offer from Malone and North Carolina. The Raleigh, North Carolina native recently announced that he is transferring to IMG Academy to finish up his high school basketball career.
Page’s phone has been absolutely buzzing over the past 24 hours, as North Carolina wasn’t the only offer he reeled in during that time. Other offers from the likes of Georgetown, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Houston, Kentucky, Florida State, Providence, and UConn also were extended his way over this span. Without a doubt, this guy is a high-riser who will have quite the options to choose from as he narrows down his recruitment!
This is a name UNC basketball fans should be very familiar with. In June of 2025, the Hubert Davis regime offered Page, officially jumping into the mix for his services. Now, almost 14 months later, Malone and his staff let the 6-foot-5 shooting guard know that Chapel Hill is still an option for him to pursue. The hope is that his stint in Florida will be short-lived, bringing him back to his home state for his college basketball career.
While ranked as the sixth-best prospect coming out of the state of North Carolina, Page is still a top-15 -ranked recruit in this graduating class. He serves as the No. 11 overall player in the Class of 2027, being one of the elite talents that this insane crop of talent from the state of North Carolina has to offer in this recruiting cycle.
If we’ve learned anything from the early portion of Malone’s time at the helm, the Tar Heels aren’t going to shy away from recruiting the best talent available. They have been heavily pursuing the top-tier guys in the Class of 2027 and aim to walk away with multiple blue chip talents to help build the 2027-2028 roster and beyond.
Page would definitely be a major addition if the Tar Heels could land him, as they could potentially secure two (or even three) commitments from five-star talents if all goes the way that Malone plans for his first high school recruiting class as a college head coach.
