Victor Wembanyama’s New Teammate Drops ‘Special’ Take

In a blockbuster NBA trade that shook up the league, the San Antonio Spurs acquired De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings, while Zach LaVine landed in Sacramento with Sidy Cissoko. Zach Collins, Kevin Huerter and Tre Jones, meanwhile, joined the Chicago Bulls. The deal reshapes all three franchises. Fox, 27, arrives in San Antonio as the new face of the backcourt, bringing elite speed, playmaking and scoring. He is particularly excited about his new opportunity, especially playing alongside Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama.

After his Spurs debut on Wednesday, the All-Star guard wasted no time sharing his thoughts on Wembanyama, calling the 7-foot-4 sensation “special” and highlighting the unique advantages the French superstar brings to the game. “He’s special,” Fox said, according to Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio. “The type of attention that he commands, his presence on the defensive end allows you to do things that you normally wouldn’t do. So that’s why I think this group can do a lot of things.”

In his first game as a Spur, Fox put up 24 points and handed out 13 assists in a 126-125 win over the Atlanta Hawks. As for Wembanyama, he had a 24-point, 12-rebound double-double. The former Kings guard thrives in transition, and with Wembanyama’s defensive versatility, San Antonio could quickly emerge as a Western Conference threat. The Spurs’ future is officially in motion. With a rising superstar in Wembanyama and a proven All-Star in Fox, San Antonio is positioning itself as a force in the league.
