Liverpool and Arsenal both won slightly more than Manchester City as the title picture changes this weekend. Pep Guardiola said.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola gave a TV interview ahead of the Premier League match.
The defeat marks City’s fourth consecutive draw in the Premier League, a feat they have not experienced since April 2017.
Guardiola is currently fourth in the table, six points behind leaders Arsenal and four behind of Liverpool and understands that he is not focused on the big goals at the moment.
In the match against Aston Villa, Manchester City struggled to create scoring chances, scoring only 2 goals. Coach Guardiola acknowledged the team’s poor performance in the first half but pointed to improvements in the second half.
“The second half was better,” Guardiola said in an interview with beIN Sports after the match. We didn’t press well in the first half, but we were much better in the second half.
They (Villa) had chances to score but we struggled. “We couldn’t find players to give people something to do and we couldn’t do that.”Guardiola has taken it upon himself to find a solution to Manchester City’s recent struggles and acknowledged the need to regroup and find a way to win.
He emphasized that winning the next game is important to change the dynamic of the team. But he also admitted that the current circumstances of the country do not allow us to think too much about big goals.
“We have to find a way to win again, put our heads together and come back with momentum. When you’re in this position, you can’t think too much about the big goals. “We have to win the next game to change the momentum.
“Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp refused to underestimate Guardiola’s side despite Manchester City’s woes putting their title defense in doubt. After Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United, Klopp was confident:
“If anyone criticizes City, it will be the biggest joke in the history of football.” It really doesn’t make sense. Aston Villa are great, so is Reds. The competition is fierce and you need luck to get through the tough times. “I don’t know how this is going to end.”
