UEFA president Aleksandar Ceferin has reiterated his belief that Manchester City are entitled to investigate and sanction financial violations. In 2018, City were found guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules and banned from the Champions League for two years. However, this decision was annulled by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The CAS found that “most of the alleged violations” were “undeclared or out of date.” Ceferin’s comments come as the Premier League investigates penalties imposed on other clubs for breaching profitability and sustainability rules. City, who were charged with 115 offenses in 2023, are still awaiting the outcome of the case.
