Toulouse didn’t expect to pick up three points against Liverpool in the Europa League, but that’s exactly what they did.
The French club beat Jurgen Klopp’s men 3-2 in a game where VAR had everyone involved. So did Les Violettes captain Vincent Sierre when asked about the match against Liverpool at RMC Sport’s Génération After.
The midfielder explained that the whole club is “very proud” of their achievements and that their aim is to top the group.
What Ciero wanted to talk about more was Liverpool’s last minute goal which was disallowed by VAR and left the stadium gasping. “It was like a roller coaster,” he said.
At this point I can clearly see McAllister’s hands and the entire stadium. When they scored we all asked for a handball. To be honest, we thought it would be gone soon, but we were all moved when we saw it was taken.
In the end it went to VAR, and after the decision was made it was not a goal. It means victory.”
Following this win, Toulouse traveled to Lille and drew 1–1. It showed that football is a game of moments and victories against Premier League sides can quickly be overturned by poor performances.
But it’s a moment the whole team will cherish for a long time.
