Liverpool aim to start 2024 with a win against Newcastle United at Anfield.
Liverpool’s players will have a second day of recovery ahead of their game against Newcastle United on New Year’s Eve.
The Reds played four games in 10 days and recorded a 2-0 win over Burnley. Jurgen Klopp’s side have a week between their game against the Clarets and Newcastle’s trip to Anfield.
Instead of lining up his troops at the AXA training facility and trying to improve during the Premier League title race, Klopp gave his squad 48 hours of rest and time to spend with their families.
In an interview with Amazon Prime after the win against Burnley, Klopp said: “This is the fourth game in 10 days. No matter what your body does, no matter how much you lose focus or how inaccurate you are in critical moments, you never know and you have to overcome it.“We have talked until now, but now it is over.
Now I’m thinking, with five days left until the next game, I really have to go on vacation. It’s so crazy. Now the boys have two days off. “I said before the game, ‘If we win, I’m going to take two days off,’” he said.
