Usain Bolt has revealed why he didn’t want Arsenal and Liverpool to win the Premier League title this season. Bolt, a Manchester United fan, was happy to see Manchester City win the title despite the Manchester rivalry as he explained his stance.
The Jamaican sprinter said that Gunners fans get too much excited before the end of the season. As for Liverpool, the Merseysiders would have been tied for titles had they been champions. Bolt said (via talkSPORT):
“Everybody always asks me who I’d rather win the Premier League title out of Arsenal and Man City- I’m like, Man City, easy.
“I know a lot of Arsenal fans, and when they’re top of the Premier League table they talk so much and I’m like, ‘you haven’t won yet!’ Imagine if they actually won? Oh my god, it would be over.”
Speaking of the Merseysiders, Bolt said:
“Liverool? No, because they’d be tied on titles with us and we can’t have that and because Arsenal talk so much I’d rather deal with Man City.”
How Liverpool and Arsenal fared in the title race this season
At the turn of the year, Liverpool looked like the favourites to win the title, while the Gunners were behind. Mikel Arteta’s side, though, launched a comeback and showed great form in 2024.
As for Jurgen Klopp’s side, they faded during the decisive part of the campaign. City, though, showed their championship mettle, adding yet another Premier League title to their cabinet.City ended the season with 91 points from 38 games, while the Gunners finished two points behind. They have finished second for the second straight year. The Anfield club, meanwhile, finished third with 82 points.With their triumph, Pep Guardiola’s side created Premier League history, becoming the first side to complete an unprecedented four-peat, having won six of the last seven titles, another first.
