Wouldn’t be a surprise’ – Liverpool could recall defender after Andy Robertson injury

Dundee are not worried about Liverpool’s chances of re-signing Owen Beck after his loan spell at the Scottish club, despite Andy Robertson’s recent shoulder injury.

The Scotland captain will be out for three months after dislocating his shoulder in a collision with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon during the international break. Kostas Tsimikas started at left-back in last Saturday’s Merseyside derby away to Everton, with Luis Diaz and Joe Gomez coming on for the second half.

Meanwhile, teenager Callum Scanlon was named on the bench against the Blues, with Luke Chambers mentioning Jurgen Klopp as a possible alternative last week.”Luckily we didn’t have Kostas because we had less games.” said the German. “We have Joe Gomez who can play in that position.

We often train Luke Chambers and other young players. “So we have them involved in international half-time training, while the other players haven’t arrived yet since yesterday. As you can see, the young ones really stand out and are cute.

With so much talent, we need options. This is clear. “Costas is the most experienced player in that position, which is good, but he can’t play every game anymore, so we need other options. That’s where we have to make sure we have them all available.”With the exception of Tsimikas, Beck is the most experienced natural left-back in Liverpool’s history.

The 21-year-old made two cup appearances for the Reds in 2021/22 and made nine appearances the following year thanks to loan spells at Famalicao and Bolton Wanderers.

Both moves were temporarily put on hold as the defender failed to perform as expected but has made an impressive comeback since joining Dundee on loan this summer.

His impressive performances in 10 appearances for Scotland, totaling 90 minutes, helped Dundee avoid relegation from the Scottish Premiership. Meanwhile, they were also called up to the Wales national team for the first time earlier this month, but injuries elsewhere prevented them from making their debuts.

As a result, Robertson’s prolonged absence has sparked concerns north of the border that Liverpool could recall Beck in January in a bid to secure a left-back. But Dundee manager Tony Docherty is not worried about the possibility.“Follow every incident.

That’s how we treat loan players,” said Docherty. “You’re giving them a platform to do well for themselves and for Dundee Football Club. And if they are good people, they will surely attract the attention of their parent club or something. But I’m not worried about that. That’s what I know.
