A young fan pitch invaded Liverpool legends’ clash with Ajax and proceeded to take a selfie with Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard received a raucous reception at Anfield as he led a team of former Reds stars to take on their Ajax counterparts in a charity game supporting the LFC Foundation.
Sven-Goran Eriksson was joined by Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge in the dugout as he fulfilled a lifelong ambition to coach the club after he revealed his terminal cancer diagnosis in February.
The visitors were determined to spoil the party however, and Derk Boerrigter fired Ajax into the lead after just two minutes.
Kiki Musampa doubled the Dutch side’s lead before Gregory Vignal halved the deficit for the hosts after the interval.
With Liverpool continuing their hunt for an equaliser early in the second half, a young fan evaded stewards and ran onto the pitch forcing play to be paused.
The supporter immediately made a beeline for Gerrard before embracing the Liverpool legend and earning a huge cheer from the fans in attendance.
Gerrard paused to take a selfie with the fan before stewards intervened to lead him off the pitch.
Liverpool would retake control of the clash following the incident, securing victory with goals from Nabil El Zhar and Fernando Torres.
